The Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD) learned of the possible contamination of the Sabra products after routine inspections found Listeria in several Sabra Classic Hummus containers collected on March 30 at a Port Huron Kroger outlet, according to a spokeswoman for the MDARD.
It took several days for the prepackaged products to go through testing, and as soon as the results came back, MDARD notified inspectors in Virginia and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. The USDA is working with Sabra. At this time, only five stock unit numbers are involved.
