It is owned by Alison and Eddie Nobre, and it is one of the few Portuguese eateries on Long Island. Its doors have been open for five years.
Fado is the quintessential restaurant for private parties, catering, and they offer a children’s menu. Its most popular dishes are the whole fish, pork and clams (Carne de Porco à Alentejana), as well as its two distinct cod dishes (Bacalhau a bras and Bacalhau assado).
The kale soup that they serve, which is known as caldo verde, is quite remarkable, sine it consists of aged and smoked pork. Equally impressive is its “Salada Primavera,” which included a grilled wedge of romain lettuce, a sunny side egg, a few diced cherry tomatoes, coupled with smoked bacon sprinkles. Patrons could either add grilled chicken or grilled shrimp as a topping.
For patrons over the age of 21, a glass of wine (from their lengthy wine selections) is ideal to accompany their meals.
