A local tipster emailed the
Gothamist, warning against “hundreds” of slow-moving bees.
The tipster said that the bees created a hazard and that residents and their pets are scared to walk down the street at night due to the abundance of active bees.
Not since O.J. Simpson has so much noise been made about a slow speed chase.
Reporters and some residents feared the nocturnal bees would develop into a “Bee-nado.” Even the tipster admitted that the bees were “not aggressive,” but were worrisome nonetheless.
But they should have known that only good things come out of Roberta’s.
The Roberta’s team
responded by saying, “Everything we've done is in compliance with the Department of Health and the City. In fact, we had the DOH stop by this afternoon and they again approved the conditions of the hives,”
They continued by saying, “As explained by a representative of the the New York Bee Association, "bees are 'free range,' they forage in nectar and pollen for up to three miles,”
Roberta’s, a restaurant that received a 4.5 star rating by Zagat, serves American and Italian food. They also provide vegetarian options. The restaurant is very focused on providing fresh food and, as a result, many of their menu items are grown in their rooftop garden. Roberta’s adopted two bee hives from the New York Bee Association.
Not only do the bees help keep the garden beautiful, they are a part of the culture of Roberta’s.
Or maybe the bees are around to remind people of their legendary
