article imageNew Keurig-compatible pods give whole new meaning to coffee pot

Many of us can't properly start our day without that first cup of coffee. But for those who also need a little kick with their morning cup of Joe, BrewBudz has got you covered with their new Keurig-compatible coffee pods with added cannabis flower.
Eater is reporting that "waking and baking" has become a lot easier, thanks to California-based BrewBudz. Their cannabis coffee pods will soon be available for purchase at weed shops in six states.
The pods are made from recycled coffee beans, are 100 percent recyclable and can be thrown in your compost pile, unlike the K-cups that add to our environmental waste. But the new cannabis coffee pods are more expensive than the Keurig coffee pods, costing about $7, compared to the 60-cents a pod for K-cups, reports Quartz.
BrewBudz says they are also developing a line of decaffeinated coffee, teas, including black, green and chamomile, and hot cocoa pods. Each cup of brew will contain 10 milligrams of THC for recreational users and 25 to 50 milligrams for medical users,
BrewBudz vice president Jeffry Paul says the pods use the full cannabis flower, rather than an extract or oil. Once the coffee is brewed, there is no marijuana smell or taste, making it good for those who need cannabis for medical reasons and enjoy coffee. Paul says the teas do have a little bit of marijuana flavor, due to the herbal nature of the teas, but they taste "excellent."
The new cannabis coffee pods will be launched in Nevada and Colorado in January. The company plans to expand sales to Washington, Oregon, California and Arizona by March, according to Fox News 11.
