article imageKFC debuts 'Chizza' — Pizza with a fried-chicken crust

KFC has introduced a new menu item last week — Chizza — a pizza with a fried chicken crust. Media reaction has been disbelief and horror, while others have been willing to give the dish a try.
Do you think KFC's latest chicken recipe mashup "will survive?"
KFC likes to invent new ways to cram chicken into familiar comfort foods. Their latest concoction is the Chizza, which is a mashup of pizza and chicken.
The Chizza is about making a pizza that has a fried chicken crust, or dumping pizza toppings onto fried chicken. The Chizza will offer limited pizza toppings, including red sauce, cheese, pepperoni and green peppers and pineapple to freshen this heavy meal.
Based on the numerous images being shared on social media, hundreds of customers are game to sample KFCs latest fare. More than 1,370 photos have popped up on Instagram using #chizza with brief comments. Instagram user manongyagi wrote, "Tasted much better in my head."

Most curious diners will need a plane ticket because the Chizza is only available only at KFC Philippines.
The fast food chain had made headlines in past years with its Double Down sandwich, a cheese and bacon sandwich made with two pieces of fried chicken breasts as buns. Then, they created the Double Down Dog which also replaced the hot dog bun with fried chicken.
Nutritional information is not available, but media reports wonder how it will compare to the DD sandwich at 540 calories and the hot dog at around 960 calories.
KFC and Pizza Hut are owned by the same parent company, Yum! Brands. Perhaps more fast-food crossovers are in the future.
