Beebe - A Beebe, Arkansas company is recalling 662,049 lbs. of various sized packages of meat and poultry products because the facility where the products were stored was deemed to be unsanitary.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) initiated a Class 1 recall by MIH Sales and Marketing, Inc., a Beebe, AR company after an Office of Investigation, Enforcement and Audits (OIEA) inspector discovered that the meat products were being stored under unsanitary conditions.
The inspector discovered rat feces in the storage areas on the property, and some of the items tested positive for alkaline phosphatase, indicating evidence of fecal matter. The FSIS had the owner of the company halt the delivery of products in the facility and a recall was issued for the meats already delivered.
The raw chicken breast fillet, chicken thigh, chicken drum, chicken wing and chicken tender items were produced by various federal establishments and sold at 17 retail stores located in Arkansas between April 10, 2016, and September 10, 2016. These products were in clear packages weighing approximately five pounds each.

Chicken City Retail Stores recalling the above products are located in Whitehall, AR; Jonesboro, AR; Conway, AR; Searcy, AR Marion, AR; North Little Rock, AR, and Brinkley, AR.
While no illnesses or adverse reactions have been reported, the FSIS is urging consumers to not consume these products. They should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase. Consumers with questions about the recall can contact John Hilger, Owner of MIH Marketing and Sales, at (501) -278-7041.
MIH Sales and Marketing is not a meat producer or packer. MIH Sales and Marketing operates as a carrier company, or middle-man, hauling anything from general freight to waste and chemicals, in addition to fresh produce, meats, and livestock.
Basically, it is a "for-profit" corporation owned and run by a husband and wife team.
