Brockport, New York-based Bonduelle USA Inc. is recalling 9,335 cases of frozen corn because it has the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. There have been no reports of illness associated with this recall, according to the company.
The frozen corn was distributed to retailers in 14 states, including New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Vermont, Massachusetts, Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, Florida, Mississippi and Louisiana. The products were distributed in poly-bags under four different labels.
The recall is the result of routine product testing conducted by the state of Tennessee, which revealed the presence of Listeria monocytogenes. The company has stopped distribution of this product, and the company and the FDA is continuing to investigate the cause of the problem, according to the recall notice.

The French company, Bonduelle USA Inc. took over the frozen foods portion of the former Allens food company after they went bankrupt in 2014. Bonduelle changed the company name. The family-owned company is a world leader in ready-to–use vegetables.
Consumers who have purchased the affected products are urged not to eat them, and throw them out. Consumers needing a refund or those with questions can contact the company at 1-877-990-2662, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. EDT.
Listeria is an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, the elderly or those with compromised immune systems. Listeria can also cause miscarriages and stillbirths in pregnant women. Symptoms of an infection can include fever and muscle aches, gastrointestinal symptoms, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance, and convulsions.
