The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) notice was prompted by the recall of Pinnacles Foods’ recall of Aunt Jemima’s frozen pancakes, waffles, and french toast products in the U.S. and two products in Mexico due to possible contamination with Listeria monocytogenes.
In the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) notice published Friday evening, the recall by Pinnacle Foods Inc. was prompted after testing found the presence of Listeria monocytogenes within the plant environment. To date, there have been no reported illnesses associated with the recalled products.
The CFIA classifies this notice as a Class 1 Hazard and lists three products affected by this recall nationwide. Distributors, retailers, and food service establishments such as hotels, restaurants, cafeterias, hospitals and nursing homes should not sell or use the recalled products described below;
The CFIA warns consumers to check to see if you have any of the recalled products in your home. Recalled products should be thrown out or returned to the store where they were purchased. Do not eat them.
Remember that food contaminated with Listeria may not look or smell bad, but it can still make you sick.
