Canada Food Inspection Agency recalls Aunt Jemima nationally

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) notice was prompted by the recall of Pinnacles Foods’ recall of Aunt Jemima’s frozen pancakes, waffles, and french toast products in the U.S. and two products in Mexico due to possible contamination with Listeria monocytogenes.

In the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) notice published Friday evening, the recall by Pinnacle Foods Inc. was prompted after testing found the presence of Listeria monocytogenes within the plant environment. To date, there have been no reported illnesses associated with the recalled products.

The CFIA classifies this notice as a Class 1 Hazard and lists three products affected by this recall nationwide. Distributors, retailers, and food service establishments such as hotels, restaurants, cafeterias, hospitals and nursing homes should not sell or use the recalled products described below;

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our dear friend Karen Graham, who served as Editor-at-Large at Digital Journal. She was 78 years old. Karen's view of what is happening in our world was colored by her love of history and how the past influences events taking place today. Her belief in humankind's part in the care of the planet and our environment has led her to focus on the need for action in dealing with climate change. It was said by Geoffrey C. Ward, "Journalism is merely history's first draft." Everyone who writes about what is happening today is indeed, writing a small part of our history.
