Campbell’s recalls 355,000 cans of SpaghettiOs for choking hazard

The company said on Thursday the red pieces of plastic are part of the can lining which may peel off. The company found out about the problem after receiving complaints from consumers. SpaghettiOs with meatballs are not affected.

The affected 14.2-ounce SpaghettiOs Original product has a date of Feb. 22, 2017, stamped on the base of the can, and UPC code of 51000 22432, which is printed under the bar code.

A representative from Campbell told ABC News the company had received about 50 calls from consumers over the pieces of plastic. Campbell is requesting that consumers do not eat the product, but return it to the store where it was purchased for a refund or exchange.

While the product was shipped to retailers in Colorado, Texas, Louisiana, Missouri, Kansas, Arizona, California, Utah, Washington, Oregon, Oklahoma, Mississippi, Idaho, Tennessee and Arkansas, Campbell has issued a nationwide recall out of an abundance of caution.

For more information, visit the Campbell’s webpage, or call 1-866-535-3774 between 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. EST, Monday through Friday or visit www.Facebook.com/SpaghettiOs.

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our dear friend Karen Graham, who served as Editor-at-Large at Digital Journal. She was 78 years old. Karen's view of what is happening in our world was colored by her love of history and how the past influences events taking place today. Her belief in humankind's part in the care of the planet and our environment has led her to focus on the need for action in dealing with climate change. It was said by Geoffrey C. Ward, "Journalism is merely history's first draft." Everyone who writes about what is happening today is indeed, writing a small part of our history.
