article imageArrowroot biscuits recalled across Canada due to illnesses

By Karen Graham     Oct 22, 2016 in Food
Mr. Christie’s Arrowroot biscuits have been recalled nationwide in Canada after consumers reported becoming ill after eating the biscuits, with some people describing they had an "off taste."
Mondelēz Canada, part of the multinational snack company, Mondelēz International Inc., is recalling certain date codes of Mr. Christie's brand Arrowroot Biscuits from the marketplace due to a potential off-taste, according to Food Safety News.
In the October 21, 2016, recall notice on the Canadian Food Inspection Agency’s website, consumers are being asked not to consume the recalled products.
“Check to see if you have recalled products in your home. Recalled products should be thrown out or returned to the store where they were purchased,” according to the recall notice. The notice also reads that a number of people have reported becoming ill after eating the cookies, although there is no information as to the severity of the illness.
The public is asked to call their doctor if they think they have become ill after consuming the recalled products. Consumers are also asked to check their cupboards for the recalled products and to throw them out if found.
This recall was set in motion by the company. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is conducting a food safety investigation, which may lead to the recall of other products. If other products are recalled, the public will be alerted through updated recall notices.
