Paris to ban motor vehicles for an entire day

The Day Without Cars will take place on September 27, and the city will be opened for pedestrians and bikers. This will allow visitors to listen to sounds that are usually muffled by the sounds of motorized vehicles.

The ban will last from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., and motorized vehicles will be banned from a large area, which includes pretty much the entire center of the city, as well as around major landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower, and two major parks.

Paris has 20 districts and 11 of those districts are going to take part in the event. Five days before the ban takes place, the European Mobility Week will come to an end, and Paris is linking its event with that event.

During the ban, emergency vehicles will be allowed on the streets, as well as those that are destined for public transportation. As for electric cars, there is no information on whether or not they are going to be banned from the roadways.

Paris isn’t the first place to do something like this, as other cities have done similar things. One of the most advanced events is held in Bogota, the capital of Colombia. For the last 15 years, there has been a car-free weekday running.
