article imageViral video: Can man's funny antics lead to Hollywood fame?

By Caroline Leopold     Aug 30, 2015 in Internet
Logan Paul has become a social media celebrity for his funny, offbeat videos, but wants to cross over to Hollywood fame. Now his new video showing him doing the splits across New York has caught attention online.
In the most latest offering, Paul had a camera film in on the streets and subways of New York City where he'd suddenly fall to the ground in a perfect split. New York is a tough crowd with some witnesses barely registering a reaction. Others, usually younger women, would throw their hands over their mouths in shock.
Actor and director Paul, 20, makes videos that millions have watched — beating many box office draws — except these short films are only six seconds long.
Paul is a huge celebrity on Vine, the social media site where users make ultra-brief movies limited to six seconds. His videos covering plots like saving a cat from a highway or game night with the guys all have an element of humor and surprise, which has made him popular. To date, Paul's Vine account has amassed over 8 million followers and his video clips have been looped over 3 million times.
The Vine videos have brought fame and financial success, but Logan wants to do more than make homemade videos. According to an interview with Tech Insider, Paul wants to turn his Vine fame and fortune into Hollywood acting career.
Paul, an Ohio native, moved to Los Angeles and still makes Vine videos while taking acting classes and going to auditions. So far, he had a guest spot on Law and Order: Special Victims Unit and the Fox series, Weird Loners — canceled after six episodes.
Vine success has gross Paul around $1 million dollars through sponsors who pay for Paul to create, direct, and shoot videos that may take hours to produce those few seconds.
