article imageVideo captures Houston worker's daring escape from fire

Houston - The combination of a Houston construction worker's quick thinking and the expertise of a firefighter crew resulted in a dramatic rescue caught on video that's quickly gone viral.
NOLA reports that a fire broke out in a large apartment complex under construction in Houston, Texas. The raging flames trapped a construction worker who was on the fourth floor of the building. To make matters worse, winds reportedly gusting at 40 km/h were only fanning the flames.
The video shows the worker clearly trapped on the fourth-floor balcony. He looks around for a few seconds before deciding to swing down to the balcony on the third floor. At that point, a fire truck swings towards him a huge ladder that he eventually grabs onto. Only a few seconds after the worker is safe on the ladder, a huge section on the fourth floor of the building collapses.
The video was uploaded by YouTube user Karen Jones, who shot the footage from a nearby building.
The apartment complex was to include 396 units and covered four-and-a-half acres, CBC reported. There were no reported injuries associated with the fire, and the cause is still under investigation. It took 200 firefighters two-and-a-half hours to properly contain the flames.
