Magog welcomes Radio Webphre.com to the airwaves (Includes interview and first-hand account)

The founder and driving force behind the new web based community radio station Johanne Michaud began the project about a year ago.
In a recent interview with Sherbrooke’s daily newspaper La Tribune she revealed that the project has been a life long dream for her to fulfill.
“Growing up, I was interested in student radio, but at that time I did not have the time to engage in it. The idea (of community radio) returned to me a few years later and I thought that Magog would be a good place for this project .”
Radio Webphre.com will be serving interests of Magog as well as other local communities in the eastern townships.
The station will focus on current events, the local, provincial and national economy, politics, music, arts and other issues concerning the local communities at large such as school closings and local sporting events.
In the next few weeks the fledgling station will be rolling out regular feature programs and specialty programs as they present themselves.
Michaud credits Mayor of Magog Vicki May Hamm and MNA Dr Pierre Reid
with helping to find funding and encouraging the new project for the region.
“Webphre Radio.com is going to supply local news to the area which will be produced by the local residents from their own unique point of view”, said the charismatic Mayor as she took a moment to chat with Digital Journal.
“I believe strongly in this project. The fact that it is web-based is very important, the result will be that the citizens of this area will be able to access important local news and activities wherever they are will be a great service.
“Johanne Michaud has been working on this project for a couple of years and I am very happy to see the station launch today.”
“I think that Wephre Radio.com is greatly going to help the close knit community here in Magog. added local MNA Dr Pierre Reid.
“It is especially important that the station will be broadcasting in French but also English as well. This is what Magog and the Orford region is all about; which is both the French and English cultures living here and harmoniously while sharing values and new ideas.”
“Radio Webphre.com will offer new chances for both cultures to communicate and get together and stay informed on activities and news events in the community.
