WOMBA, LLC, one of the nation’s leading HIPAA-compliant medical data sharing providers is pleased to announce its collaboration with Lewis And Clark Information Exchange (“LACIE”) – a non-profit health information exchange representing millions of patients, from both Kansas and Missouri and with an extensive array of interconnections ranging from small independent physician practices to large academic medical centers as well as several of the nation’s preeminent EMRs including Allscipts, Epic, InterComponentWare, Amazing Charts, GE Centricity, Meditech, AthenHealth, Glostream, Misys, Cerner, gMed, NextGen, CommChart, Greenway, Praxis, CPSI, Healthvision, Prognosis, eClinicalWorks, iMED Corp, Sage, SuccessEHS, Ingenious Med, Sage intergy, e-MDs, Siemens, Encite, Integritas, and SOAPware Inc. All health record transactions between WOMBA and LACIE will be carried out by LACIE participants providing consent at the organizational level for data sharing and pursuant to a HIPAA Authorization signed by the corresponding insurance applicant authorizing the transfer of data.

This collaboration will enable WOMBA to securely retrieve otherwise disparately located medical data from healthcare providers throughout the nation thereby accelerating the life and disability insurance application process as well as the timely processing of insurance claims.

“LACIE’s extensive network of EMR’s and medical facilities greatly enhances WOMBA’s capabilities in partnering with insurance companies to streamline the health and disability insurance application process for millions of applicants as well as providing rich and high-quality medical data to enable insurance companies to meet the needs of their customers while managing risk,” said Eli Rowe, WOMBA’s CEO. “LACIE’s inclusion in WOMBA’s record retrieval capabilities is another significant step in establishing WOMBA as the nation’s foremost service provider in this space” he added.

WOMBA is the digital arm of PDC, the nation’s leading medical data retriever for the life insurance industry serving over 300 of the top insurers in the nation for use in the underwriting and risk assessment of insurance applications. Built over 30+ years of expertise WOMBA’s digital retrieval platform enables life insurance companies to request and retrieve medical records from the applicants’ medical providers and to evaluate the risk profiles of applicants in a more transparent and friendly way, while significantly reducing costs, improving the process’ efficiency and accelerating the application process so individuals can receive coverage faster.
