Asked what motivated him to build the Ice Bucket Movement, the CEO shared that he experienced how hard it is to be at the lowest point of life. At a young age, he suffered from a coma after surviving a collision. The near-death experience turned the once active child into a bedridden patient for months. Andy suffered to cope with his peers and become as active as he was before the accident.
"Early 2000s, I finally was fed up with all the medications and doctors and feeling like crap, so I basically just booked a place in San Diego and met a nutritionist there," shared Andy. The change of environment and lifestyle exposed him to natural healing approaches and healthier alternatives. That was when Andy felt that his life was finally taking shape again. He started his own R&D company, focused on creating healthy, natural confectionery. The CEO recalled that the process was "both challenging and rewarding."
