United States – July 22, 2020 – Rev. Dr. Anne Hays Egan announces the release of her new book, Building Communities Of Hope: How People Are Making Positive Change. This book is targeted toward the development of vibrant, joy-filled, and healthy communities engaged in sharing love and hope with their neighbors. Stories about everyday heroes give us inspirtation and “power for the journey.” Some of these community leaders are heroes featured by local and national media, who have won awards for their work.
This book, Building Communities Of Hope, helps readers see how they can move forward, empowered, and purpose-filled because they are fueled by hope. That hope is grounded in a belief that people are hard-wired for the good, and there’s data to support that belief!
The writer explains how collaborative work makes a substantial collective impact over time, with the right resources. During times like these, with the immense suffering caused by COVID-19, we need hope more than ever. Rev. Dr. Anne explains that it’s important to have the kind of practical hope that allows us to be hopeful with our eyes wide open to the difficulties we face in our communities – from the pandemic and its healthcare challenges, to the serious economic setbacks that are severely threatening the already marginalized.
Her book includes a structural and systems analysis that the author explains is “essential for any sort of long-lasting hope.” Changing our structures and systems, so that there is full equity for all people is part of the Roadmap of Hope.
Building Communities Of Hope was inspired by the author’s doctoral dissertation. It includes both research, narrative, and lots of stories about a diverse group of people and communities. Anne says: “I’ve been working in community system development, healthcare and aging for decades. Increasingly, I’m finding that partnering with community heroes, and lifting them up is an essential part of effective community building work.”
The author hopes the stories which have inspired her will be an inspiration to others as well. She hopes that the book provides tools to help leaders make their communities stronger, healthier, and more resilient.
