Global language services company, Telelanguage, provides free language interpretation to Salem residents in partnership with the City of Salem to aid in COVID-19 pandemic response.

In partnership with the City of Salem, Oregon, Telelanguage is providing free language interpretation and translation services to ensure that Salem’s non-English speaking population has access to critical language services and COVID-19 health information in their native language.

Providing free services to the City of Salem is one small way we can help give back during this challenging and uncertain time.”
The interpretation and translation company (based in Portland, Oregon) has partnerships in all major industries such as education, telecommunications, finance, insurance, government, and hospitality, in addition to its numerous partnerships with healthcare clients and emergency services clients working to provide direct relief amidst the current COVID-19 (coronavirus) health crisis.
22.9% of Salem residents speak a language other than English at home. The city’s Spanish-speaking community presents the greatest language access need, as 17.16% of Salem’s population are native Spanish speakers. Telelanguage is providing critical language access in Spanish, as well as for many other languages needed. The global language services provider offers interpretation services in over 350 languages.

Telelanguage is also assisting in Salem’s COVID-19 care project. In order to fill critical gaps in COVID-19 care to Salem’s 173,000+ residents, Salem has launched a COVID-19 care initiative with Alluvium Mobile Health Team to provide care by volunteer physicians and nurse practitioners for the people of Salem experiencing mild upper respiratory symptoms who want to see a doctor but do not require hospitalization.
This initiative aims to provide relief to mildly ill patients, and also creates a protective barrier to prevent overwhelm to Salem hospitals and first responders. In partnership with the Salem Fire Department, and Falck Ambulance, the Alluvium Mobile Health Team will reach out to and connect with patients who have possible COVID-19 symptoms, but who do not require emergency room care.To aid in this endeavor, Telelanguage is providing Over-the-Phone and Video Remote Interpretation Services to ensure communication, understanding, and aid in community outreach to Salem’s limited-English proficient population.
