Sarasota Estate With Storied Circus History on the Market for $1.39 Million

SARASOTA, Fla. – April 15, 2020 – (Newswire.com)

A Mediterranean Revival home steeped in Sarasota’s circus history has entered the market for $1.39 million. Constructed in 1925, the residence was once owned by the Repensky-Loyal family of performers, and later by other luminaries of the circus’ golden age. Located at 2530 Prospect Street, the property is marketed exclusively by Joel Schemmel of Premier Sotheby’s International Realty’s Downtown Sarasota office. Additional listing details can be viewed here.

During the 1930s and ‘40s, The Repensky-Loyal family inhabited the house, living among other circus performers in the Arlington Park neighborhood. John Ringling reportedly dined in the home; circus acts were supposedly practiced right on the property — and there were even accounts that two horses and a lion had been buried in the backyard. Years later, the home was sold to other circus stars: Jules Loyal and Pat Satarelli were owners, as well as Albertina and Aldemaro Catarzi.

Although the three-bedroom, three-and-a-half-bath home has been updated by the current owners, it still maintains many original features: Georgian hard pine floors; custom-made ceramic tile; light fixtures; copper-clad door hinges; and crystal-knob locksets. Modern appointments include a 2005 addition encompassing a family room with 17-foot ceilings, game room, large carport with workshop and a luxurious master suite that claims the entire second floor. The kitchen’s original white wood cabinetry is complemented by exquisite granite countertops and Kitchen-Aid Architect Series stainless steel appliances. Outside, a newer lanai surrounds the solar-heated pool, which was resurfaced with Pebble-Tec’s Midnight Blue finish. The spacious property, pristine landscaping and close proximity to downtown Sarasota complete this distinctive residence.
