Air New Zealand pilot with jatropha oil jet fuel

2008-12-30 22:51:54

Air New Zealand Boeing 747 pilot Captain Morgan shows a vial of the jatropha plant-oil which partially powered the two-hour test flight with biofuel from TANZANIA on Dec 30 2008. It was the first time a commercial jetliner had one engine run on biofuel. Jatropha is very suitable for the high-altitude freezing temperatures, it was found.
