1892 Light bulb manufacturer Eindhoven

The first European light bulbs were manufactured by hand by Dutch women in the factory of Philips in Eindhoven. They were very expensive and had a very short life. The European Commission has decided to phase out the glowbulb over the next three years, starting with the energy-waster 100w bulb from September 2009.
