The Daily Sun tabloid in South Africa, with a 4-million black readership, has promised the Media Ombudsman to stop using hate-speech words such as 'alien and evil alien' when referring to foreign Africans in its news reports. The Ombudsman warned that this hate speech contributed greatly to the ethnic-cleansing campaign which had killed 22 foreigners and chased thousands of families from black SA townships
