Giant Beaver Rat undermining Dutch diking systems

Beaver Rats are an alien giant aquatic rat from South America which now is rapidly colonising the Low Countries and undermining the diking systems because of the recently milder winters. It was originally brought into Europe from semitropical South American countries by furriers. When the fur-trade collapsed due to the fur-boycot campaign, the breeders often turned them lose because of a widespread belief that they would die because of the colder northern European climates...
