Originally, Julie Andrews played the part of the lovely but star-crossed queen Guinevere, on Broadway. Jack Warner studio head of Warner Brothers who produced the movie, apologized to Andrews for not casting her in "My Fair Lady" a few year's earlier because at the time he thought she was not enough of a star to play the role. But in 1967 Andrews was a big success and very busy. British actress Vanessa Redgrave stepped in to play the part.
