    Webloggers may not think in terms of control and influence, but commercial media do.Mass media seeks,above all, to gain a wide audience. Advertisingrevenues,the lifeblood of any professional publication or brodcast, depend on the size of that publication audience.
    Journalists - the people who actually report the news- are acutely aware of the potentialfor abusethat is inherent in their system, wich relieson support from Businesses and power brokers, each with an agenda to promote. their ethical standards are designed to delineatethe journalist's responsabilities and provide a clear code of conduct that will esnsure the integrity of the news.
    weblogs sometimes have no such code and individual citizen journalists seem almost proud of their "amateur" status....
