Felicita Aguilar has a small plot of land to provide food for her family, one son and one daughter. In 2011 flooding in the lower Lempa destroyed her crops. In 2012 she decided to plough her field during the summer months to plant corn. Although the cost of producing a crop is high, with irrigation and labour, she is at least guaranteed a yield. She says that flooding has become the biggest problem in the area and because of this she needs to change her agricultural systems.
