The Reverend Ashley Thomas turns himself in to the police as within the space of 48 hours his world comes crashing down around him. He is arrested for assaulting his father, his wife kicks him out of their bed and the vicarage, and soon he will resign his post, and embark on a downward spiral into either ignominy or infamy, depending on the soap ratings.
