article imageReview: Luke Bryan tugs at the heart with new single 'Drink a Beer'

By Markos Papadatos     Dec 22, 2013 in Entertainment
Country singer Luke Bryan released his latest radio single "Drink A Beer," via his record label, Capitol Records Nashville.
The song is so heartfelt and it is Bryan's most captivating and powerful single to date. It deals with living with loss, and Bryan sings it with a lot of emotion. It has an even deeper meaning for him, since he has lost both of his siblings in his life; his brother passed away in 1996 and his sister in 2007. At this year's Country Music Association (CMA) awards, when he performed the song, he dedicated it to both of their memories.
Along with country singer Lee Brice's "I Drive Your Truck," it is one of the most moving songs by a male country artist that I have heard in a while.
The tune was co-penned by Jim Beavers and country singer Chris Stapleton. Although it was not written by Bryan, his interpretation and dynamic performance on it, made it seem as if he did.
The Verdict
"Drink A Beer" is one country song that should only be listened to with a box of Kleenex nearby. It is the contrast of Bryan's previous singles "That's My Kind of Night" and "Crash My Party," both are which are more upbeat. It garners two thumbs up and a standing ovation for Bryan.
