article imageReview: Country singer Jake Owen soars on new album 'Days of Gold' Special

By Markos Papadatos     Dec 25, 2013 in Entertainment
Country singer Jake Owen released his latest studio album, "Days of Gold," on December 3, via his record label, RCA Nashville.
It was produced by Joey Moi, who has worked with hit country duo Florida Georgia Line.
The album opens with the upbeat and fun title track single "Days of Gold" and it is followed by "Beachin,'" which has a nice groove to it. "Ghost Town" and "1972" are both keepers.
"Life of The Party" is one of my favorites on the album due to its catchy nature, and it is melodically reminiscent of his smash hit "Barefoot Blue Jean Night." This would make a great choice for a future radio single for Owen.
The touching piano-driven ballad, "What We Ain't Got," is the highlight track on the album. It features Owen's finest vocal performance to date that will leave the listeners in goosebumps, if not tears. He showcases a lot of range and vulnerability as an artist.
Equally remarkable are "One Little Kiss (Never Killed Nobody)" and "Good Timing," the latter of which has a sing-along chorus. "Tall Glass of Something" has a country-rock edge to it, where the listener can recall Brantley Gilbert's "Kick It In The Sticks."
"Tipsy" and "Drivin' All Night" are both infectious and it closes with yet another superb track "Sure Feels Right."
The Verdict
Overall, Jake Owen delivers on his latest studio album. It is highly eclectic and many songs on here have the potential to reach the top of the Billboard country charts. Joey Moi proves that he is a genius producer. It garners an A rating, and it is a must for anybody that enjoys modern country music.
