article imageReview: Chris Young delivers at Nassau Coliseum concert in New York Special

By Markos Papadatos     Feb 18, 2014 in Entertainment
Uniondale - RCA Nashville recording country artist Chris Young played an opening set at Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale, New York, on February 16.
Young warmed up the stage for country superstar Brad Paisley as part of his headlining "Beat This Winter" tour. He shared the stage with Big Machine recording artist Danielle Bradbery from The Voice, as well as fellow label-mate Dee Jay Silver.
He opened his set with the title track of his latest studio album, "A.M." It was followed by his first chart-topping single "Gettin' You Home (The Black Dress Song)," as well as "Voices," which happens to be my all-time favorite vocal by Young. He had the entire audience singing every word of "Voices" back to him, which must have been a gratifying feeling.
Young performed new cuts from his album such as "Lonely Eyes," as well as "Who I Am With You" and its lead-off single "Aw Naw," which was another fun sing-along.
Similar to his show last year at the NYCB Theatre at Westbury in Long Island, Young covered ZZ Top's "Sharp Dressed Man," which was a real treat.
"I Can Take It From There" was another upbeat and catchy tune, and the mid-tempo "You" was another distinct vocal for Young.
He continued with "Nothin' But the Cooler Left" and the gorgeous ballad "Tomorrow."
Young closed his set with the fun and up-tempo "Save Water, Drink Beer."
The Verdict
Overall, Chris Young delivered at his show at Nassau Coliseum. He gave the Long Island audience a night of country music to remember. Despite playing only twelve songs (since he was opening for Paisley), all of his songs were high-quality and he managed to connect well with the Long Island crowd. Young garnered two thumbs up for his live performance. Bravo.
