article imageReview: Billy Currington charms on his country single 'Hey Girl' Special

By Markos Papadatos     Dec 14, 2013 in Entertainment
Country music singer Billy Currington topped the Billboard Hot Country Airplay charts with his single "Hey Girl" back in mid-October.
His vocals on this tune are smooth, impressive and extremely radio-friendly, which is why it fared so well.
The song was co-written by Rhett Akins (the father of country star Thomas Rhett), as well as Chris DeStefano and Ashley Gorley. He is signed to Mercury Nashville.
Blessed with his leading man looks, the song's music video, which gathered well over 3.4 million views, has been a critical and commercial triumph thanks to his country fans. It has been certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), thus becoming of his most successful singles to date.
"Hey Girl" ranks in my Top 3 favorite Billy Currington songs, along with "Must Be Doin' Somethin' Right" and his breakthrough single "Walk A Little Straighter," which just breaks your heart upon listening to that poignant vocal or watching its moving video.
In the spring of 2014, Billy Currington will be touring the country as part of his "We Are Tonight" tour.
