article imageReview: Avicii shines on new single and video for 'Hey Brother' Special

By Markos Papadatos     Dec 22, 2013 in Entertainment
Electronic dance music producer and DJ Avicii released his latest radio single in the United States "Hey Brother" in mid-December.
It is the third track in Avicii's debut studio album True, and the follow-up to his smash single "Wake Me Up."
"Hey Brother," which Avicii co-wrote, is played regularly on New York's hit music station, Z 100. It features Grammy award-winning bluegrass vocalist Dan Tyminski on lead vocals. Being a huge fan of bluegrass music, Tyminski's voice is distinct and instantly recognizable.
Tyminski is best-known for his work as a band member of Alison Krauss and Union Station, as well as for being the singing voice of George Clooney in the movie O Brother, Where Art Thou.
The song's music video is quite moving and it depicts scenes during the Vietnam War in the United States. It has been well-received on YouTube, thus generating over 3.7 millions views.
The Verdict
Overall, "Hey Brother" is proof that Avicii is one brilliant producer and musician. The fact that he included a talented bluegrass artist, Dan Tyminski, was genius on his part, thus showcasing that good music has no boundaries. This is by far, the best song that I have heard on Z 100 this month. The song garners 5 out of 5 stars and both Avicii and Tyminski knock it out of the ball park. Well done.
