By Markos Papadatos     Dec 29, 2013 in Entertainment
This year, I had the distinct opportunity to interview many male musicians in almost every genre of music, spanning from country to rock to pop to electronic dance music.
These are my 10 standout male interviews of 2013. They are arranged alphabetically, in no particular order, since they are all important to me.
Bobby Bare- Veteran country music star Bobby Bare has always been one of my biggest musical heroes, so to be able to chat with him for Digital Journal was a real thrill for me.
This year Bare was inducted into the coveted Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, along with Kenny Rogers, and the late Cowboy Jack Clement.

Cody Simpson- Superstar Cody Simpson is one of the greatest teen sensation out there in pop music, so to interview him for Digital Journal was quite awesome. We spoke about his new single "La Da Dee" and his new autobiography.

David Cook- Rock singer-songwriter David Cook has always been an artist on my "dream interview list" for quite some time. I was pleasantly surprised when I had the pleasure to actually interview him over the phone this year for Digital Journal. Not only is he an incredible musician and powerhouse vocalist, but he has a big heart that always helps for causes that are dear to him (such as brain cancer research).

DJ Christopher Lawrence- I interviewed many great producers and DJs in electronic dance music (EDM), but Christopher Lawrence stands out as the finest in the genre. He has been a part of the dance music scene for almost two decades and he is constantly putting out great tracks and he takes his craft seriously. In my interview with DJ Christopher Lawrence, he chats about his newest release Rush Hour: Best of 2013, which was came out on his own label, Pharmacy Music.

Hank Williams Jr.- Another childhood hero of mine in country music is Hank Williams Jr. He is also known as "Bocephus." It was an honor to chat with him for Digital Journal about the evolution of the music industry and some of his proudest moments.

Jeff Timmons- Jeff Timmons is the founding member of the Grammy-nominated group 98 Degrees. This year I have had the chance to see him perform live with his group at New York's Nassau Coliseum, and he and I spoke about his latest venture, being the host of "Men of The Strip."

Joe Nichols- Country singer Joe Nichols is a neotraditionalist, who sings heartfelt country tunes with his rich baritone voice. He is one of my favorite male country artists and we spoke about his latest album Crickets, which was co-produced by Mickey Jack Cones, that featured the chart-topping single "Sunny and 75."

Kendall Schmidt- Kendall is best-known for his work in the television show and band of the same name, Big Time Rush, but he also is a member of the electro-pop duo Heffron Drive. I spoke to Kendall prior to his performance at New York City's Webster Hall about his future plans in music.

Matthew West- Christian singer-songwriter Matthew West is one of the kindest artists in music: he writes songs based on people's real-life experiences that they submit to him. We spoke about his newest CD and DVD for Into The Light: Life Stories and Live Songs, which came out this summer on Sparrow Records. Ever since, he was named "Contemporary Inspirational Favorite Artist" at the American Music Awards (AMAs).
