article imageNBC's next live musical event will be 'Peter Pan,' cast TBA

By Tucker Cummings     Jan 20, 2014 in Entertainment
After the ratings success of "The Sound of Music," the execs at NBC have decided that the network's next live musical event will be "Peter Pan."
According to the New York Times, NBC chairman Robert Greenblatt even has a "dream choice" in mind to join the cast. While Greenblatt is staying mum about who that celebrity might be, ZAP2it has suggested that actors like Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Daniel Radcliffe, or Zac Ephron would be ideal as Peter Pan himself. Other names being floated around include Taylor Swift as Wendy and Nathan Fillion as Captain Hook.
Since NBC's live production of "The Sound of Music" netted around 22 million viewers for the network, it's no surprise that NBC has plans to keep on broadcasting musical events. The "Peter Pan" production is expected to air on Dec. 4, 2014.
It's worth noting that in previous NBC productions of "Peter Pan," the role of Peter was played by a woman. Back in 1955, Mary Martin starred in a live rendition of the popular musical for the network. Perhaps the 2014 version will also feature a young actress as Peter, but it's too soon to know for sure.
