Throughout their career in the music business, which spans two decades, Steep Canyon Rangers have won a Grammy award, and the North Carolina-based band has molded contemporary bluegrass music into what it is today by adding elements of country, pop, folk, Americana and rock, thus giving the genre their own, unique twist.
For this project, they teamed up with three-time Grammy-winning producer Joe Henry, who had a traditional approach towards the recording process, where all six members of the band sang and played in a room with no overdubs. They also collaborated with veteran engineer and mixer Jason Richmond.
Aside from their highly anticipated new album, Out in the Open, which will come out in January of 2018, Steep Canyon Rangers will also unite with their local Asheville Symphony for a series of live performances, as well as the recording of another new project, where they will push the boundaries of contemporary bluegrass music.
Out in the Open is available for pre-order on iTunes, and on Amazon.
