Ryan Griffin discusses new music, future plans, Kelsea Ballerini (Includes interview)

Griffin just released three songs “Best Cold Beer,” “Good Company and “Play It By Heart. “We put out an EP last year, and we continued making music and we continued developing. We caught the attention of busbee, who is incredible. He was the piece of the puzzle that I was truly desiring to bring everything together from all angles creatively. We hit it off, and it was meant to be. Creatively, we are on the same page, and everything happened organically. Working with him was one of the coolest experiences to happen in music so far,” he said.

On his plans for the future, he said, “We are just trying to get out there and spread the love and the music, and tour as much as possible. I want to continue to create music and to continue to grow.”

Digital transformation of country music

On the impact of technology on the country music scene, Griffin said, “We need to figure out the grey areas, when it comes to financial earnings, but as far as the technological side, I love it, since it gives artists like myself, a platform, where we wouldn’t have had that before. Before, there was only country radio, and that was it. Having this second avenue and all these second routes such as Pandora, Amazon and Spotify is just priceless.”

He noted that for songwriting technology is incredible. “We have the ability to press ‘record’ on our phones, and it can be recording our entire session as we are writing,” he said. “You don’t miss anything, that way. You can also put notes on your phone. I grab my phone 15 times a day, and I put notes in it for song ideas, concepts or hooks. Studios can now be on a laptop and a microphone, which makes it easier to travel and record something. We are using technology constantly in this industry.”

As a songwriter, Griffin co-wrote the platinum-selling, chart-topping single “Dibs” with country star Kelsea Ballerini and fellow co-writers Josh Kerr and Jason Duke. “That was such an unexpected moment in my life,” he admitted. “It was unreal that I could do that with all of my friends too: Kelsea, Jason and Josh. We are all best friends, and it kind of happened.”

Speaking of Kelsea Ballerini, Griffin listed her as his dream female duet partner. “It would be so much fun to get on stage, and share a stage with Kelsea,” he said.

One of the most surprising things about Griffin is that he has never been to New York City before. “I’ve been all over the country but never New York City, and I’m not going there, unless I am going for business,” he said.

He defined the word success as “balance” in life. “Balance of family, career, and ultimately, happiness,” he said.

Griffin’s new music is available on iTunes.
