Lipton plays the role of Cameron Webber on the hit ABC daytime drama, and this performance of his original tune “North Star” was a part of last year’s Nurses Ball on the show, where each year, several cast members showcase their unique talents as it raises money for a good cause.
Melodically, the listener can slightly recall Train’s “Drops of Jupiter” and Lipton’s vocals are rich and crisp, as he accompanies himself on acoustic guitar. The lyrics are positive and reassuring.
An Emmy-nominated actor, Lipton is able to tell a moving story with “North Star” and the inclusion of archived photos and images on the TV screens in the background is an added plus. It was certainly one of the standout performances in last year’s Nurses Ball on General Hospital.
“North Star” by William Lipton is worth more than just a passing glance, and it is available on Apple Music and on Spotify, among other digital service providers.
The Verdict
Overall, “North Star” garners an A rating. While William Lipton is a gifted actor, he is also an incredible singer-songwriter and instrumentalist in his own right. There is a rawness and an authenticity to his music, which is really promising.
