Review: Walker Hayes delights on new ‘You Broke Up With Me’ single (Includes first-hand account)

The groovy song has a laid-back and mellow vibe to it, coupled with an infectious melody. “Don’t start rainin’ on my Mardi Gras parade for a minute, I ain’t even fixin’ to listen to your guilt trippin,’ you’re forgettin’ girl you made your bed and didn’t want me in it,” Hayes sings.

“You Broke Up With Me” was co-penned by Hayes and songwriters Thomas Archer and Kylie Sackley, and it was subsequently produced by Grammy-winning producer Shane McAnally. It is the first release from his upcoming debut studio album on Monument Records.

The Verdict

Overall, Walker Hayes delights on his newest radio single “You Broke Up With Me.” He showcases a great deal of talent, and the song is extremely radio-friendly and catchy. It is worthy of the repeat button on one’s mp3 or CD player. His lyrics are clever and fun, where many of his male listeners can certainly relate to the song’s message. “You Broke Up With Me” garners an A rating.

“You Broke Up With Me” is available on iTunes.
