Review: Up Close and Country with Carly Pearce at NASH FM 94.7 (Includes first-hand account)

This event was co-hosted by Jesse Addy and the beautiful Katie Neal from NASH FM. It was a celebration of Carly Pearce’s new album release, Every Little Thing, which came out on Friday.

“Hi,” Carly Peace said. “How y’all doing? It’s such a pretty day in New York,” she added, prior to noting her excitement for her new album.

She kicked off her set with “Doin’ It Right,” where she was backed by her three-piece band that included an acoustic guitar player, percussionist and keyboard player. She dubbed this song as “one of her favorites off the new album.”

“I’m so happy because everyone can hear all of these songs,” she said, prior to sharing that she was influenced by many female country artists of the 90’s such as Shania Twain and Trisha Yearwood.

Pearce continued with “If My Name Was Whiskey,” where her vocals were expressive and controlled. “I’m not supposed to smile during this song,” she admitted.

She mentioned that “Careless” was a song that she wrote with her friend and co-writer Emily Shackleton, who stood by her for six years. It was inspired after eating Panera, so she thanked Panera for the song; moreover, this tune is her favorite to perform live, and rightfully so.

“Are there any red wine fans?” she asked, and the NASH FM audience went nuts. “I am not promoting underage drinking,” she added, jokingly, and segued into the sassy and spitfire “Hide the Wine.” She closed on a powerhouse note, by belting out her breakthrough radio single “Every Little Thing,” which is making its way up the Billboard Hot Country Airplay charts. Her rendition of this heartbreak ballad was bold, refreshing and hauntingly beautiful.

“Doesn’t she sound amazing?” Katie Neal asked, complimenting the country songstress for her solid live set at Stage 17. Pearce also noted that this was “not a concept album,” instead it was a journey through her Kentucky roots, underscoring her love for the dobro, and bluegrass. She paid homage to her producer, busbee, and shared that the first song they wrote together was “”You Know Where to Find Me,” which is featured on the new CD.

The country darling thanked her fans and NASH FM for being “awesome to her,” and revealed that “Every Little Thing” is the No. 1 country song on iTunes.

“Stage 17, give it up for Carly Pearce!” Neal exclaimed, and Pearce concluded by introducing her three band members, all of which feel like family to her.

The Verdict

Overall, Carly Pearce did an excellent job performing five songs for NASH FM 94.7’s Stage 17 in New York. It is safe to say that the studio listeners and fans that were streaming online enjoyed “every little thing” from Pearce’s dynamic, live performance. Everybody ought to buy a copy or two of her new album. They will not be disappointed. This country songstress is going places.
