article imageReview: Tyminski astounding on new studio album 'Southern Gothic' Special

By Markos Papadatos     Nov 4, 2017 in Music
Grammy winner Dan Tyminski has released his new studio album, "Southern Gothic," via Mercury Nashville, as part of his latest musical project, Tyminski.
It opens with the dark and intense, "Southern Gothic," which showcases a different side to his artistry (he is known for his musical work as the bandleader in Alison Krauss + Union Station). It is followed by the spitfire "Breathing Fire" and the harking ballad "Gone."
"Temporary Love" is more nonchalant, and continues with "Perfect Poison" and the haunting "Devil Is Downtown."
"Hollow Hallelujah" is soothing and melodically charming, and "Good For Your Soul" is one of those songs that will put a smile on the listener's face.
After the refreshing "Bloodline," it closes with the upbeat "Wanted" and the inspirational ballad "Numb."
The Verdict
Overall, Dan Tyminski delivers on his new studio album, Southern Gothic. To quote one of the song titles, this album is "good for your soul." This CD displays Tyminski's wide range as a recording artist. It garners 4.5 out of 5 stars.
Southern Gothic is available on Amazon and on iTunes.
