article imageReview: Tyler Farr fails to deliver at the Nikon at Jones Beach Theater Special

By Markos Papadatos     Sep 3, 2016 in Music
Wantagh - Country singer Tyler Farr performed at the Nikon at Jones Beach Theater, where he opened for Brad Paisley, and his show was forgettable and unimpressive.
He shared the stage with fellow openers, country duo Maddie and Tae, as well as Brad Paisley, who headlined the show.
Farr began his set with "C.O.U.N.T.R.Y.," which is the opening track of his second studio album, and it was followed by "Better in Roots," and his sophomore single "Whiskey in My Water."
The problem with his raspy voice, which was off-key in various instances, and his vocal range was that they were very limited, and the majority of the Long Island crowd were not even paying attention during his set. They were there solely for Brad Paisley.
Long Island did not even go "Redneck Crazy," during his live rendition of his breakthrough single of the same name. Even his cover of The Outfield's "Your Love" was embarrassing and lame.
Farr closed his set with "Withdrawals" and his chart-topping single "A Guy Walks Into A Bar," the latter of which was the only semi-decent performance in his set.
Thank God for Brad Paisley who was there to save the show with his dynamic and high-octane performance.
The Verdict
Overall, Tyler Farr's live show at the Nikon at Jones Beach Theater garnered one out of five stars. To paraphrase the opening line from his "A Guy Walks Into a Bar" song, "The joke's on (him) and it ain't funny." Not his best performance by any means. For the time being, Farr needs to stick to his audio recordings, since at least with those, he has all the time necessary in the studio to perfect them, and make them sound catchy.
