article imageReview: Train infectious on new single 'Play That Song' Special

By Markos Papadatos     Jan 23, 2017 in Music
Rock band Train is back with their refreshing new single "Play That Song," which was released on the record label Columbia Records.
Front-man Pat Monahan co-wrote "Play That Song" with his producer William Wiik Larsen. In addition, late songwriters Hoagy Carmichael and Frank Loesser, both of which are known for composing "Heart and Soul," are also credited for writing "Play That Song," since the contemporary songwriters drew influences from both of these legendary musicians. The song is comprised of catchy hooks and strong melodies. In New York City, it is played constantly on the radio airwaves, especially on adult contemporary stations, and rightfully so.
"Play that song, The one that makes me go all night long, the one that makes me think of you, that's all you gotta do," Monahan sings, in the opening verse.
Their song's music video has a neat concept to it, and it seemed like a great deal of fun for the band to make. One can only cheer for joy for Train at the end of their video.
The Verdict
Overall, Pat Monahan's vocals on "Play That Song" are joyous and captivating. It deserves to become the band's next major smash hit. "Play That Song" garners an A rating.
Train's "Play That Song" is available on iTunes.
