Review: This American Idol winner will blow you away with her new single (Includes first-hand account)

The control that Poppe maintains over her voice is incredible, and the same holds true for the delivery of her performance. Poppe allows her crisp vocals to do all the talking, as she sustains the listener’s attention for the entire three and a half minute duration of the tune.

Poppe’s music video helps elevate “Going Going Gone” to a higher level. Director Jeff Venable did a solid job directing the video in the historic movie ranches in the California desert, where the cinematography is visually striking.

Her music is highly eclectic, where she encompasses elements of pop, soft rock, adult contemporary and even traces of country, all in one. The listener can recall such singer-songwriters as Sara Bareilles meets Carolyn Dawn Johnson, and she emerges as the female equivalent of Phillip Phillips (all of these comparisons ought to be taken as a compliment).

“Going Going Gone” is available on iTunes.

The Verdict

Overall, Maddie Poppe has released a stunning breakthrough single “Going Going Gone.” Whoever has yet to discover the musical talent of Poppe is truly missing out. This Iowas native deserves to become the next big female star in the contemporary music scene. Both her single and music video for “Going Going Gone” garner an A rating. Well done.
