Review: The Ronald Reagans rock out Mulcahy’s with ’80s music (Includes first-hand account)

The Ronald Reagans is made up of Vinnie James Dio on guitar, ‘Diamond’ David Lee Wilson on drums, Beckie Gibson on lead vocals,
Jimmy McFly on bass and vocals, as well as Paul ‘Cougar’ Mellencamp on keytar.

They began their set with a verse of “Final Countdown” and they immediately broke into the fun “Working for the Weekend,” where they showed their kick moves, and Journey’s “Any Way You Want It.”

“You guys. Sing it with me now. C’mon,” Beckie said, as they continued with The Outfield’s “Your Love” and the infectious “Tainted Love.” As green lights graced the stage, they tipped their hats to Hall & Oates with “You Make My Dreams.”

“How are you guys doing out there?” Beckie asked. “I see some dancers so that means the alcohol is kicking in,” and she went on to belt out Pat Benatar’s “Hit Me With Your Best Shot.”

White laser lights dimmed from the stage during “Maniac,” and they showed their ability to hit the high notes on “Take On Me.” Equally fun were the upbeat “Walking on Sunshine” and “Centerfold.”

AC/DC’s “You Shook Me All Night Long” was a fun sing along, and Madonna’s “Like a Prayer” was pure bliss.. “Some classic Madonna for you. She’s my favorite,” Beckie exclaimed.

“Where my girls at?” she asked, and serenaded them to Cyndi Lauper’s “Girls Just Want to Have Fun.” It was followed by such memorable hits as “I Wanna Dance With Somebody,” “Footloose” and a duet version of “Time of My Life”. They closed with Def Leppard’s “Pour Some Sugar on Me” and Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin’,” where Vinnie from the band showed his prowess on electric guitar, where he was able to play it upside down.

The Verdict

Overall, The Ronald Reagans put on an exceptional ’80s tribute show at Mulcahy’s. The crowd was into it every step of the way, and even members from The 90’s Band were dancing and singing along to these ’80s classics. The Ronald Reagans’ concert garnered an A rating for a job well done.
