Review: The Beach Boys, John Stamos, Jimmy Buffett perform for July 4th (Includes first-hand account)

John Stamos became a brand new father (as of April 10, 2018) to a baby boy, Billy, whom he named after his father.

As he took the stage with The Beach Boys, they kicked off their medley of hits with “I Get Around,” which featured their soaring harmonies, as Stamos rocked the electric guitar.

“All right, let’s take a trip down to Kokomo, with our good friend Jimmy Buffett,” Mike Love said. The inclusion of Jimmy Buffett (who performed barefoot, and accompanied himself on acoustic guitar and showcased his mellow vocals) in this catchy tune was an added bonus, while Stamos played percussion.

The Beach Boys closed their three-song set on an upbeat note with “Fun, Fun, Fun,” where Stamos switched over to drums. The fans in the audience, that were gathered at the lawn of the Capitol Building, were dancing and singing along with them.

The Verdict

Overall, The Beach Boys concert featuring John Stamos and Jimmy Buffett at “A Capitol Forth” on PBS was nostalgic and emotional at the same time. They had the audience in Washington, D.C. with them every step of the way, as they celebrated America’s birthday. The fireworks taking place in the background were visually stunning. Well done.
