Wantagh - On December 30, The 90's Band played their final show of the year at Mulcahy's Pub and Concert Hall in Wantagh, as part of 90's Night.
They opened their set on a country note with Shania Twain's "Man! I Feel Like a Woman" and it was followed by Third Eye Blind's "Semi Charmed Life" and "Inside Out."
The 90's Band front-woman Nicoletta showcased some angst on Meredith Brooks' "Bitch," while front-man Phil was able to deliver on the upbeat Friends theme song "I'll Be There For You." He continued with Barenaked Ladies' "One Week," while Nicoletta paid tribute to Sublime with the ska punk tune "Santeria."
"How are you guys doing tonight?" Phil asked, prior to asking the crowd if they are ready to sing. At that moment, he began strumming his guitar to Oasis' "Wonderwall" and the fans in the venue joined in. Nicoletta was able to delight on No Doubt's "Spiderwebs," where the stage was graced in blue and pink lights.
They immediately broke into such Blink-182 classics as "What's My Age Again?" and "All The Small Things," which was yet another fun singalong. Phil went on to tip his hat to Green Day with "Basket Case," which had the famous line "Sometimes I give myself the creeps." The 90's Band closed their first of two sets with Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit."
The Verdict
Overall, 2016 was a great year for 90's Night at Mulcahy's and for The 90's Band. Their shows have a neat retro vibe to them. Hopefully, there will be a lot more music to come from them in the New Year.
