article imageReview: Sylvia will blow you away with Second Bloom: The Hits Re-Imagined Special

By Markos Papadatos     Jun 9, 2018 in Music
On June 8, veteran country songstress Sylvia has released her new studio album "Second Bloom: The Hits Re-Imagined" independently.
Her album opens with the soothing "Drifter," where her voice is as crystalline as ever. It is followed by her critically acclaimed smash single "Nobody," which earned her a Grammy nomination for "Best Female Country Vocal Performance." It immediately breaks into the ballad "Tumbleweed," and she picks up the pace with the uplifting tune "Fallin' in Love."
"Cry Just a Little Bit" is mid-tempo and sassy, while "Sweet Yesterday" is a gorgeous ballad, whose lyrics are filled with vivid imagery. She displays her sincere storytelling ability on "Like Nothing Ever Happened," and "Snapshot" is pure ear candy. It closes with the cheerful "I Love You by Heart" and on a fitting note with "You Can't Go Back Home," which has neat tin whistle instrumentation.
Second Bloom: The Hits Re-Imagined is available on iTunes.
The Verdict
Overall, Sylvia is back with a glorious new album Second Bloom: The Hits Re-Imagined. She proves that she only gets better with age and experience. She was able to dust off all her classic hits, and give them a fresh, re-imagined touch. All 10 tracks are beautiful and they have their own identities. Sylvia is country as grits on this collection. This CD garners an A rating.
