Review: Strawberry Fields puts Mulcahy’s into a Beatles music time warp (Includes first-hand account)

Strawberry Fields is comprised of Tony Garofalo as John Lennon, Billy Ray as Paul McCartney, John Korba as George Harrison, and Michael Bellusci as Ringo Starr. They are the only Beatles tribute band to have played at such hallowed venues as Shea Stadium, Yankee Stadium, Fenway Park and CitiField. The cover band is also made up of former members of Broadway’s Beatlemania.

They have the crowd with them every step of the way, as they were singing along with the songs, where they sang most of The Beatles’ greatest and most popular hits from that musical era.

Mulcahy’s was the quintessential venue for Strawberry Fields to play their Beatles tribute, especially for anybody who never saw their show at B.B. King Blues Club in Times Square, New York City, prior to the venue’s closing this past April. There was something in it for everybody, and their audience consisted of a wide demographic of fans, ages 21 or over.

The Verdict

Strawberry Fields was superb at Mulcahy’s Pub and Concert Hall on Long Island. They nailed the Beatles music, their mannerisms and accents to the tee and made one feel like they were going to an actual Beatles show in the ’60s. There was definitely a feeling of nostalgia in the venue. Their 90-minute set was entertaining and impressive and it garnered five out of five stars.
