It opens with the mid-tempo, piano-driven “Shine,” and it is followed by the sassy and fun title track tune “Circles and Squares/Go,” as well as “Old Letter.” Equally soothing is “Far Away,” which has a classic Beatles vibe to it. “Let’s Get Married” is more sultry and melodic, while “Trying to Keep It Simple” ought to be enjoyed for its beauty and simplicity. “I Loved Last Night” has a soft and easy listening vibe to it.
Most impressive about this project is that it is not overdone or overproduced. The album closes with “I Don’t Have Anything (If I Don’t Have You)” and “Abyss,” as well as the shaker-driven “I Think of Her.”
The Verdict
Overall, Seth Swirsky delivers on his third studio album Circles and Squares, which is like a time machine. His voice is as smooth as silk, and he is able to paint a picture in the minds of his listeners, as he takes them back to simpler times. This record is highly eclectic, and it is extremely hard to select a favorite recording on there. It garners an A rating.
