article imageReview: Scotty McCreery tugs at the heart on 'Five More Minutes' single Special

By Markos Papadatos     May 4, 2017 in Music
Country singer-songwriter Scotty McCreery will be releasing "Five More Minutes" to the radio airwaves tomorrow, and it is an emotional single.
Ever since he wrote the song back in 2015, it has become a fan-favorite in his live concerts, as well as when he sang it live on the hallowed Grand Ole Opry stage last year (in June of 2016), where he was fighting back the tears in a moving but beautiful performance. In the heartfelt lyrics, McCreery recalls such life events as an early date with longtime-sweetheart, Gabi, to his grandfather's final moments.
"Five More Minutes" was co-penned by Frank Rogers and Monty Criswell, and Rogers subsequently served as the single's producer.
In a few weeks, McCreery will be performing on the National Memorial Day Concert which airs live on PBS on Sunday, May 28. The concert is filmed live on the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol building in Washington DC.
The Verdict
Overall, Scotty McCreery's new single "Five More Minutes," is reflective and authentic, and it really tugs at the heart. His rich, baritone vocals are impressive, and they instantly lure the listener in. The song is a poignant homage to his grandfather, and easily one of the best songs of his career. Many listeners can easily relate to this song's universal lyrics. "Five More Minutes" garners five out of five stars. Well done!
